Default Looking for the first integra

Hi I'm looking to get into my first integra. Been taking some time to read up on the many swaps and work usually done on these cars, and I am hoping to pull the trigger on one soon.

Having said that, I'm looking to get some advice and consensus from the board as I'm sure you guys understand these cars much better. What's the general view on those with a type R B18C swap? and in terms of reliability and value? I'm also in Canada if that makes a difference.

Thanks guys, and looking forward to learning more.

Get a type r! It's the elite integra. It holds it's value more and it has much more upgrades compared to the gsr or ls integra. The engine is stronger, the gear box makes for a fun drive with its short gear ratio and the LSD equipped inside. I can go all day but hope I helped a lil. I mean if you have the funds get a Type R.

clean with no rust idk where in Canada you are but a clean un rusted integra is not cheap, that in it's self should be priority, a type r is just as reliable as any other Honda from that era so long as it was cared for.

Well, he's in Canada so they have the 96-97 with the long gears up there too.

Holding their value doesn't mean anything since that means he'll be the one paying a premium if he were to buy a factory ITR.

OP, the B18C/5 and B18B are both good candidates for your swap if you've got the funds.

The B18C/5 will give you a bit more mid range torque, which will help in the heavier Integra. The swaps are straight forward, a monkey could do it.

The S4C transmission on the 98-01 B18C5 and on the B16B is a really good trans. It has dual synchros on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Truly a track ready trans from the factory.

There are cheaper options though. A B18C1 or B16A2/3 will cost you about a third to half what a B18C5 or B16B will run you.

Um what...there's nothing remotely special about a 96/97 integra in terms of having longer gears the integra came with 4 possible transmissions along with the jdm version for the gsr/itr... the "gsr" or the "ls" the "type r(helical LSD)" and finally the auto tragic trans. there is no special gearing for 96-97 I stated the possible transmissions and their jdm variants, engine wise b-series are reaching the end of their time it's K24/20's that are breaking records.

lol suggesting a 1.6l in an integra is a joke it has 4-5 more ft-lbs of torque then a dseries,

The 96-97 ITR has a 4.3 final drive, the 98-01 ITR has a 4.7 final drive.

in terms of the type R ONLY you were not clear about that in either of your posts. maybe you missed that but still obligated to corrected you as that is such a vague claim without being specific.

I was responding to the guy that said:

Either way, it doesn't make what you said any more or less accurate. You were still horribly incorrect.

Says the person who said "in Canada they have the long geared 96-97" with no specifics lmao yah ok. Also suggests a 1.6l In a 2,670 lb car when it came standard with a 1.8 vtec or non-vtec go edit your post now to save face ******* goof, why the **** wouldn't WE(Canadians) have the 4.3 FD or just the 4.7 great logic there's tons of importers up here and plenty of ITR's.

I'll try to respond, but what you wrote is somewhat incoherent so forgive me if I'm off.

I said that the 1.6 lacked mid-range torque, that the heavier Integra really needs:

I also stated that Canada does in fact have 96-97 ITR's with the longer FD:

Maybe it's time to stop trolling and spend a little time working on your reading comprehension.

If you don't have anything useful to add, and just want to argue, there is a lovely sub-forum called General Discussion and Debate that you can easily head to and argue to your hearts content.

Boy, you are a classy one.

I was responding to someone that was talking about the Type R, specifically.

Context, how does it work?

edit: and no, I don't think Canadians live in igloos, but I do think they have 96-97 ITR's in Canada. They DON'T have 96-97 ITR's in the United States, where I live, and where wunfstgsr probably lives, which is why he said they all have short gearing, which is why I corrected his statement that all the ITR's had short gearing.

Why am I even responding to such a pathetic troll?

Thanks for your inputs guys all information definitely helps.

Sorry I should have elaborated more - I am looking at a particular integra that I may be interested in. It is a 98 RS model with the type R B18C swap, along with what seems to me a solid list of other aftermarket parts and overall clean example. Seller is asking for around 5.5k CAD if I remember correctly. how does that sound and anything to look out for?

I don't know much about Canadian values, but in the US, just the drivetrain is worth about $4500US, which is roughly $5500C.

Now, all in all, you can expect to get things cheaper when.you're buying them in a working project.

Price wise a 96 spec itr will fetch in the low 3K ranger from an importer used market more like 2.5K and add maybe 500 for the 98+ spec, trans from an importer is around 1K used market $800-900. Stuff is pretty cheap here in Toronto not sure about the smaller cites in Ontario, OP do you live in Ontario?.

That sounds reasonable so long as the body is clean I paid 4.5k for my current Rs, 99 JDM ITR 100% stock all paper work etc very well kept car...post the kijiji link op?

I'm not fighting, I'm simply responding to your questions and your attacks. You have asked me to clarify my statements in every posts but this one.

I have a question, what does age have to do with anything, and why do you believe I am "30-odd years old"?

Just FYI, buying someone else's build is taking a big chance that they did things properly.

Your far better off finding that clean, [no rust] RS/LS and doing the swap yourself.

I picked up a 94 RS with a blown engine for $750, [car is very clean and no rust at all with under 200K km on the clock], I also found a 95 LS engine and 5 speed transmission with 52K km on it for $250, I will end up with a very nice RS for $1000, already have a buyer that will give me $2500 for it.

It may take some time and a lot of searching but there is a clean RS/LS out there that you can find for a good price, and you can swap in whatever you want. 94

Try to find a nice stock looking GSR. I think that would be your best bet.
