Looking at buying an Integra
There's an integra for sale at a lot near my place for $5,500. It's a 98 LS 5 speed with 131,xxx. It also has a 3 month/3000 warranty. The lot owner said the previous owner didn't change the timing belt and it eventually broke and bent one valve. So, he sent the head to a machine shop and replaced the one valve that was broken. At the same time, they redid the timing belt and water pump. The car looks pretty clean inside and out and drives pretty well. My question is: is it alright to just replace one valve?
yeah, as long as they checked all the other and made there are all good. i replaced only one [a burnt exhaust valve] and my head is fine. if he only looked at that one and maybe missed another or something and the shop didn't check to see...
...then you could have an issue. but im sure you will hear it or something. loss of compression..etc..

Tell them you're worried about residual damage in the engine, and offer like $3500 to start.
I wouldn't pay 5500, though. I got my 98 LS for 6500, but it only had 55,000miles on it and was optioned out the wazzoo.
