koni yellow problem?
i recently bought a used (for 1 year) set of koni yellows. since i'm planning on installing them this weekend, i pulled them out to have a look. i tried putting the **** on and giving them a turn to see what it was going to be like, but it just keeps spinning around and around. there doesn't seem to be any point of resistance or any 'stopping point'. i can spin the **** 10 or 15 times around (both directions) and it doesn't stop. is this normal? the directions say the difference between fully firm and soft is 1.5 turns. why can i turn it so much more than that?
are they f-ked up or what?

^^^ follow that advice 1st...
do you have the original bill of sale? you can contact Koni North America and see if you can get these replaced under their warranty process. I think this is how it works. You give them a credit card#. They send the replacement parts to you (so you can still have your car mobile). You send them the defective parts. They inspect the parts and determine if it will be covered under warranty.
If it is covered. Fine. You have new shocks. They don't charge the card.
If it is not covered. The card will be charged. Last time I contacted them, the price was about $101 each.

i'm a litte hesitant to install them without knowing for sure b/c it's not that easy of an install.
as for the return policy, koni only warranty's the original purchaser...which isn't me.
any other suggestions? has anyone else dealt with this?

Sounds like you have a problem. Mine have a definite stop in each direction. I don't THINK they will change if you compress them, but you could call KONI to ask for sure. Would the seller be willing to call KONI for you, or to give you the original reciept?
until they are on the car they will spin, mine did the same thing about a month ago before i installed them on the car, bolting them down and having pressure from the spring will keep it from spinning.

Exactly. You need them on the ride, or that little guy can spin all day due to NO pressure on them at all.

are you absolutely sure? i'm in louisville, and i'm headed to columbus for the install. i don't want to make that 3 hour drive if they're f'ed up.
i'll honk when i cruise thru the 'nati for ya
p.s. that stadium sure is nice. i thoroughly enjoyed watching the steelers crush them in that stadium. i may have even consumed one or two of these
that sunny day last fall.

okaie so they're off the car right now...just get a good grip on the piston of the strut (make sure to be careful, do not scratch or mar the piston) and use the **** to only turn the adjuster "shaft"...when adjusting the adjuster off the car you must hold the shaft of the strut or it'll just spin endlessly, which isn't a good thing...late
it hit a local shop and they pretty much told me the same thing. both of you all were right, i was spinning the rod. they do stop when you hold the rod, though. they're cool and i'm happy. thanks for everyone's input.
i think autox is about to become a little more exciting for me
