you will need either: a full 2.5" cat (which can bolt up to 2.36" and up catback) OR a tapered cat that has a 2.5" inlet and 2.25" outlet (which can bolt up to 2.25" catbacks, obviously).

Also, I think you will pass SMOG, but I think that the 2.5" collector isn't street legal... However, if I remember, the DC sports JDM style header is street legal. Could be wrong about all that, but that's what I seem to remember around the time of the DC one coming out.

The DC JDM ITR is not CARB exempt, only the USDM ones have the CARB stamp. So, the JDM one will not pass a visual inspection if they are looking for CARB stickers/stamps, but it should pass the sniffer as long as you have a functioning cat. The JDM from the top looks just like a USDM header, so maybe you can pry a stamp off of someone's old DC header.

And yes, everyone is right, you need a cat with a 2.5" flange to mate with the 2.5" collector.

that works too, although you can't use the stock heat shield, it won't fit, you need either a OEM JDM one, or one like it.

The JDM heatshield may be a little tougher to track down, but I bet you could call jdmshit.com, hmotorsonline, or anywhere else that would sell OEM JDM motors - they may have an extra one around, or know where to get them. I saw on some other forums that CustomAuto in Canada sometimes has the JDM b16a heatshields, so they may have others as well (email is pbaumbick@customauto.ca).

As for the cat, just have SMSP or kteller8 make one for you. They will use a carsound or other universal high-flo cat and fit on some flanges based on your needs (2.5 --> 2.36 tapered, etc) and add a bung for an o2 if you need it. You could also buy a carsound or other cat online, take it to your local muffler shop, and tell them to weld a nice flange for you.

Hey I had the same question earlier. I was told to go to http://www.kteller.com for the cat and to my suprise it was a great site. They have a cat that has a 2.5" opening to a 2.25" outlet. Also, I'd go to icbmotorsport.com for your heatshield. I believe it is $53. Plus their stuff is in stock 99% of the time

i have a JDM GSR header on my LS and i didnt have to mess with my oil pan. it just hangs up really high and close to the oil pan. how are you 100% sure, have yo done this same thing in the past? if so then i guess your right but i dont think he needs to.
