Default JDM B20 issue.

I owna 1994 integra RS. I just swapped the B18B1 with a JDM B20B (obd2). The B20 I got came with the P8R head. Newer year, higher compression, right? I conerted it over to OBD1, used my LS intake mani, and my LS dizzy. I'm running a B20 basemap on my P28 ecu, and it threw a code for the knock sensor, so we disabled it. The car is super torqy at low end..but runs like utter **** past like..the 5K range. A buddy of mine told me you need to have the knock sensor connected in order for it to run right, is he right? een though we disabled the knock sensor? But what surprises me, is I looked for the knock sensor..there is a hole there for it, but no sensor. On a block with a P8R head? that's doesn't seem right? anyone have any input on why it's running like ****? or the knock sensor?

btw. I tried advancing the timing..that didn't help much, and we did try a LS basemap..that ran even worse.

Please help if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Are you saying there is a hole in the block for a knock sensor that is not there and you need one, or there is no threaded hole to put one? The easiest way to tell if it is a high compression b20 is if it has a knock sensor or not. All of the high compression ones have one, and all of the low compression ones don't have one. At least that's what I've read in many forums. If you can install a knock sensor, and your bypassing it... GET A FREAKIN KNOCK SENSOR!!!

if not, then idk dude, your screwed lol

the motor is stamped 9/8, for a 1998. The B20B's that came with the P8R head, which is mine, apparently doesn't come with a knock sensor, because of its low compression ratio, it can run 87 octane safely no problem. I need to put a wideband on it, I guess, to see what it's getting. And I know the LS cams are the same..but my LS felt a whole lot more powerful, at the top at least.. I mean, it's not like it's a small power loss that can be lived with. It seriously just drastically drops power when going into the higher rpms..and it's the correct map for it and everything. my friend has a usdm b20, and is obd0, and he runs a stock ls ecu..it runs like a champ.

I just put a JDM B20B (low comp with P75 head) in my wifes 94 LS and it runs like a champ even on the stock P75 ECU, However it doesn't pull as hard up top like the B18B did but that is due to the CRV cams, you do know they are different and designed for low end torque and power, right? Get a set of OEM LS cams or soem aftermarket cams/springs and I'm betting your problem goes away.
