ITR muffler
i think the whole exhaust...cat-back and muffler account for the 30% increase in flow
You are partially correct. What also adds to the better flow is the larger diameter pipe on the ITR exhaust....
I have the ITR muffler in my GSR with the stock B pipe. I can't really feel anything different, but it is a bit louder.

About a month ago, I had the Type-R B-pipe lengthened and installed and the improvement is very noticeable and above 5,500 rpms the car really pulls hard (more so than above). The tone is just slightly louder than the stock B-pipe and Type-R muffler.
I have been extremely pleased with the performance of the Type-R cat-back exhaust and I also like the sound of the exhaust. The sound is only slightly louder and deeper than stock (which is nice and it doesn't attract a lot of attention).
I highly recommend the Type-R cat-back exhaust
. BTW, I bought mine new.
I had the Type-R muffler mounted to my stock B-pipe for about a 1.5 months and I notice an improvement in acceleration above 5,500 rpm and I only slightly deeper exhaust tone.

So you bought the whole Type R Cat Back exhaust and then had the Type R B-pipe lengthened? This is necessary, right, since it won't directly bolt onto our GSRs?

BTW, I had a 2.5" exhaust flange installed for a future JDM 4-1 header and a 2.5" hi-flow cat.

i have a itr b-pipe already lengthened for sale if anyone is interested...its in great condition, but one of the bolts (where the b-pipe meets the axle back) will have to be rewelded on...the guy who took it off was a bit careless...anywho...its only $50...get it out of my garage!!!!!!!!
And, as for impressions...i think it did make a diff, i now run a greddy b-pipe mated to a r muffler. muffler is slightly louder than stock as others have said, but i noticed hardly a diff in performance...

Any difference in materials? I think I read somewhere that the ITR muffler was stainless... is this true? How about the B-pipe?
The complete Type-R exhaust (header --> muffler) flows 30% better than stock. Here is a diagram which shows the differences.

The Type-R cat-back exhaust is 57.2mm (2.25") mandrel bent piping [an increase of +6.4mm~8.6mm over stock] throughout to increase air flow. The muffler is a multi-chamber design, and does a wonderful job of dissipating sound. However, the funnel-shaped piping in-between the chambers makes it a very free-flowing exhaust. Furthermore, in order to lighten/strengthen the parts, stainless steel was used.

here is something that is gonna sound really strange. how about this. getting an s200 muffler....since it has a twin-loop design to it, and get custom piping from the cat. i believe the s2k muffler is a 2.25 in design correct?

Yes, for a '94-'99 GS-R you will need to have the Type-R B-pipe extended by 4.5". Here is a picture of my lengthened Type-R B-pipe.
