Intro - Technical Question
Hey guys, my name is Joe, I’m 26 years old and live in Virginia; I recently purchased a 91 Integra RS to be a weather warrior. It has a couple things wrong with it, but for the price it was worth it. I also have a bike (600YZF), an ’07 TSX, and a C5 vette until a couple of weeks ago, looking to pick up a GTR or C6Z soon. Anyway, figured I’d introduce myself and poise a question.
The Integra I bought came with a new motor from acura with >30k miles on it. When I first got it, it had some oil smoke out of the tail pipe for a couple of seconds while I was driving down the interstate. I checked the oil and it seemed very high. There were two holes on the bottom of the dipstick, I’m assuming the oil level needs to fall between those two? If so, the oil level was extremely high (about two inches above the top hole). The whole time I drove it home (about 2hours) the oil light was very dimly lit. Last night when I went to move the car to get to my bike, the oil light was on, not just dimly lit. I purchased a mechanical gauge to install to check the pressure and was going to purchase an oil switch as well just to make sure. Question – Where is the oil pressure switch located on the engine? On the backside? Second, would a high oil level cause the oil light to come on? What would cause it to be dimly lit? Also, my speedo falls off around 40mph, causing the S3 light to start flashing. Any suggestions where to start looking on that? I was thinking speedo cable. Anyway, all this along with the AC are getting worked on this weekend, so any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

So today I started working on the car - replacing speedo cable, valve cover leak, etc. When I drained the oil, there was WAYYY too much, put in the correct amount and I should be good to go. I also replaced the oil pressure switch and hooked up a mechanical gauge for peace of mind. I'm around 65psi oil pressure cold and 35psi idle warmed up. Stays consistent with 10+psi per 1k rpm. All this said however, my oil light is still on/flashing
. I've read some threads where there are some cap issues in the ICU, does this apply to my situation? The blinking oil light is really bothering me! Should be installing the new AC stuff here shortly.
