This is not quite true. The weights of GS-R's vary from 94-01. According to nadaguides.com the 94 weighs in at 2667lbs, while a 01 GS-R weighs 2672. A minimal difference, but a difference none the less.

My DA weighed I think 2540 or so when it was new (90 LS) then I got ahold of it , dropped a b16 in it and stripped it to 2300 on the dot. Although that is kind of light, when the car was pushed, it felt like a damn tank compared to my friends fully loaded SI cr-x. But it was still quick enough for me.

That's correct. Type R weights varied from year to year too, due to changes in optional vs standard equipment (the rear wiper was omitted in '97 but included in '98-01 I think, the A/C omitted in '97-98 but included in '00-01, thin floor mats became standard in '01, etc). The quoted curb weight on my '01 Type R is 2639 pounds.
Even though the Type R has some features that reduce weight (no cruise, no sunroof, no map lights, etc), it also has others that add weight (bigger brakes, suspension bits, etc).
