Size? Length? Where does it start and end? Best guess at what material it is? Is this the driver's left? Don't have the luxury of looking under my '98 at the moment, so I would be guessing.

1) Try using a useful thread title next time.
2) Go take a picture of whatever it is you're trying to describe here, and post it.
3) ???
4) Profit. (Enjoy actually getting an answer)

Your filler neck is not the length of the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe runs from the engine to the bumper. The filler neck runs from the gas cap to the tank.

That plastic cover covers the evaporative emissions controls on the side of the tank, and the filler neck plumbing.

Most cars go to their graves with the factory nozzle. Everything is going to look crusty on a 14+ year old car. If it's not leaking and you're passing emissions inspections, let it ride.

I actually think you're talking about the gasses re-circulation line?!?! if it is that then you can just redo it with some stainless steel brake line and done I eliminated the whole system on my 95
