intake questions
Ok, I got a couple questions about the intake on a GSR.
Firstly, does removing the resonator provide any performance impact or does it just make the intake louder? Or does it do neither and I'm retarded? heh.
Secondly, I read in the ITR forum where a guy (sgt I believe) claimed that the traditional CAI is actually useless because once the engine is in motion, there is enough air moving through the engine bay to keep it cool, meaning one only really needs a short ram. If this is true I'm gonna save some money and just get a short ram (or maybe just a K&N drop in
)
Thoughts anyone?

All the resonator does is muffle the sound of the vtec. As far as I know, there is no performance increase when you take it off.
As for the cai, I just went with the short ram and I agree, once the car is in motion, cool air is getting into the engine bay, but it's probably not as cool as getting air from behind the bumper or fender.
The short ram I got was from AutoZone, well the pipe came from AutoZone for 40 bucks and I got a K&N filter for 25 at PepBoys. I think it works fine, I tested my friends Weapon R and CA intake on my car and I felt no difference from mine. The only thing was that VTEC was muffled with the Weapon R intake. So, you can spend a little more than $70 for a cheap short ram from AutoZone or $150+ on a Weapon R or AEM CAI.

get a cold air intake. and vtec hardly makes any sound at all. that would be your engine.
