ignition switch issues
Hey what's up everyone. I had the same question before with no luck so let me try to redo this thing. So about a year back I had to replace my ignition switch, so I went to my Honda dealership (we don't have an Acura shop in my town) and I purchased a new switch. I tryed to install it but it would not mount up properly. So I took a look at it and everything looked right except the fact that the switch didn't turn back far enough. So to get my car back and forth from work I put the key in the tumbler assembly and turned it forward a bit so I could mount up the new switch. Since I did this the switch itself will not turn back far enough to allow the key in the cylinder to turn back far enough to remove the key. Here is my question does anyone with a 95 GSR know what im talking about? Or has anyone else ever run into this problem? I have been trying to find the right switch for a year now with no luck. I need your help
not sure what you're asking here. to remove the switch, the key must be in run position, i believe. so when you install the new one it must be clocked and placed in the same position. is that what's going on? i did the same thing once. you have to pull the switch and reinstall clocked in the correct position.
does the new switch' part number match the old one? it has to. otherwise, find another for your model at the wreckers. but i don't think honda made too many variations of the switch, so it may be the same

Its not that the key stuck in the ignition over time. the thing is the cylinder has one more turn that the ignition switch doesnt have. The car used to have an alarm system from the factory that was unistalled before I bought the car. i think it has something to do with that. The thing is the only used the factory alarm that came on my car for two non consecutive years so the part comes up in the data base as the non alarm switch. Basically its two different part numbers but the same part.
Here is another issue my cylinder lock has a wire comming off of it that I had to de pin at the plug to the firewall. No other lock cylinder I've seen has this wire commingle off the cylinder. None of the manuals I have mention this or have it in a diagram. Do you guys think that this could have been part of the stock alarm system? And could that be my issues all together is that its actually the wrong cylinder somehow?
