you might be able to tell me what this is
i broke the top piece, it was red and had a hose attached to it
your guess is as good as mine

the red box is where the piece came from
and the green arrow is there the top piece broke off and the hose was attached to a red nipple like thing

Idk what's its called, take the pic to the parts store and they will show you an exploded view of the parts and the names.

 

thats your pcv valve. should cost about 8 bucks from the auto store.

like everyone said, it's the PCV valve...and if the piece broke off inside it, just remove it from the block and clean it out, and the parts should come out...just make sure it didn't fall into the block, meaning be careful when you're pulling it off and don't tilt it much to make it fall.
