How strong is an engine in a gsr?
I have many accords and I have put 250k+ miles on them but I was wondering how long a gsr motor would last. Babied of course and maybe one race a month at the track just to keep me happy and all.
Any numbers of what YOU have or anything would help.
Thanks

Well as you know hondas are acuras so...def. YES gsr motors are very strong. It can go as long as 250k if its taken care of. I have a 95 gsr w/172k and running strong, and out lasts a lot of cars around here.

Haha yeah accords are nice and Honda/Acura is great. I just always wanted a teg since I was 10 or so. But now that I can buy one I wanted to make sure it would treat me right if I treated it right like the accords do.

lol actually I was debating over GS-R or Acura TL(accord). I just love all my Honda's. Another question on the GS-R when does the vtec kick in?
not as high as u think....it is around 4400rpm, I know that is not the exact number though. I have I/H/E and the xover is not audible at all. It starts "growling" when the secondaries open around 5700rpm
vtec~4400 on a B18c1

a honda engine will last as long as its properly maintained... but as one could imagine, this is subjective. I would consider the Tranmission almost if not as important as the engine.
Because this question is really rather open ended and not very specific, i wouldnt expect any mind boggling specifics.
250k driven is impressive.
However what isnt clear is you have that mileage spread over several cars.

well I change the oil every 2700 miles and no I have put 250k+ miles on 3 cars so far so if you say it that way then 750k+ miles? I just put a new timing belt on my current at 166k so I plan for it to last until 250 also unless it locks up or just wears down but I wasn't the original owner of this car so it just might. Anyways my point is I don't see what you are saying has any reason All I was asking was everyone's experience with the car. I know the variables involved with a car.

im guessing your not debating between the gsr and the 04 tl right? you prolly looking at 2001-2002ish TL?
Im was kinda debating to same thing a few months ago between keeping my 2001 gsr or getting maybe a tl type-s
Cuz i wanted a car with more room and luxury just to chill in.
But then I realized i havent grown out of my modding years and probably wont so i kept the gsr

Well I thought about it and yeah whichever car I get I gotta to do something to the engine. And if I got a TL I would really want to get a 04 but I don't have that kinda cash right now, much less to do something to that engine. I don't like the new rsx just because I love my B series engines. I just need something that will somewhat keep up with my uncles SCed 350z. (i.e. turboed gs-r/turboed 3.2 liter TL haha that'd be hella fun) But like you said I also want a car to chill in. Pretty sure I'll go the way you went and go with the gs-r unless I find a good TL dirt cheap.
