I'm about to start a rebuild on my 00 gsr. I was thinking of running p73 itr pistons and a spoon headgasket as well arp rod bolts and head studs. Is this safe for a dd on 93 pump. also what cams and header would you run with this setup.

idk yet I'm still playing around with ideas
ive got a gsr block right now but im burning a lot of oil so its either rebuild the gsr of fina a cheap b20 to build but i cant find a b20 block thats bare for cheap. i also read some bad things about high revs on a b20 and i love to rev my motor so im starting to think just rebuild the gsr. idk im at a crossroads right now as ive always been a turbo guy and i am still thinking of boosting it bud i just dont know yet as this is my dd.
any one with advice is appreciated

with forged pistons and reworked chambers you can get up to 12:1 on 93 octane and run a normal timing curve. cast pistons and stock chambers probably 11:5-1. when you hear of guys going over this and saying "get a tune" that equates to "pulling timing" which makes the engine less efficient. mpg normally suffers.
you could run itr pistons on your p72 head with an oem head gasket and be just fine. i would cc everything to check where compression actually comes out. if it starts getting high from having anything shaved you can free up a cc or two by blending your chambers and unshrouding the valve face with cartridge rolls and a die grinder
