Default Help with some information

I've never been in a forum before and I don't know if I'm in the right place. My daughter just recently bought her first car. A 1992 Integra RS. It is a 5 speed.

First she had to replace the Catalytic convertor, then her muffler fell off, then she had the distributor replaced. It seemed fine for about the first 150 miles all the while the Check Engine light was still on but was told everything was OK. Well the next thing, the horn stopped working, then it wouldn't start so she replaced the battery.

Then it would start but would only go to 3500RPM and no more. Now it's only running on 3 cylinders. There always seems to be a puddle of water behind the passenger seat on the floor. Can't figure out how it gets there.

She worked all summer and saved her money to purchase a car. We were told that the Acura was a great automobile. What should we be looking for? Thanks for the help.

damn....your motor must have had some major damage before you bought it. Honda motors and cars are of great quality and will last for as long as you take care of it.

Sounds like the motor could have been hydrolocked(water in motor), but doubtful if its stock....did it have a clean title?

Acuras are pretty reliable cars, but there are always going to be a few bad apples / lemon cars. Hopefully she didnt get one of those.

The check engine light is a problem and is probably the reason the car wont go beyond 3500rpm. whoever told you that it wasnt a problem, is wrong. You will have to get the code and figure out what the ecu is sensing wrong. It could also explain the 3cylinder firing problem.

The puddle of water is more than likely the AC drain hose being clogged up. There is a rubber hose underneath the car on the passenger side that needs to be reamed out.

good luck with the car
