I'm actually posting this for my brother. He is in the process of doing an auto to manual swap in a DA from a 93 4 door to a 93 2 door. Everything has been swapped over and he did a minor wire tuck. So here's the problem. We started the car this morning and it started right up. The car was on stands so we shifted it into first and the rotors roll fine. However, when we shift it into reverse, the car dies. He even put the tires on the car and dropped it on the floor and it still dies in reverse. He didn't use the Hasport auto to manual mount, so the motor is a bit tilted, but would that cause the car to die when he shifts into reverse? Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance!

I would say the same, but both cars were his. The auto was a non runner and his 4 door got smashed into by a hummer (His fault). He doesn't have a car atm and he doesn't have the cash to go get another so he's putting the cars together.
Here's an update:
He tried reving up the car and it won't go past 3K. So he has two problems now. Any ideas?

Yeah he did. Apparently the first ECU he had in was the automatic, which was giving him the rev limit at 3k. Since then he has changed the ECU with the manual one and the car revs to redline, but it still dies in reverse. Any ideas? Could not having the auto to manual motor mount be causing the car to die going into reverse?

for autos, its supposed to turn off if you shift into reverse by accident when ur moving forward about a certain speed in drive..

I don't think he bridged the wire, but he changed the complete auto harness with the manual one, so would he still need to bridge the wire?

bump, i am about to do this. anything you can tell me to look out for. I wrecked my DA, gave up on it as of today. Found a replacement Auto DA for $500 complete with motor and fully running. Any extra help would be appreciated, I dont think I will need much since I created an old website for auto2man conversion in a crx back in 2000

I don't believe that it would be that much different either. Just the stalling in reverse is stumping us.... and with his luck, it's probably something real simple, we just haven't found out yet.
Also, does the belt control unit play a role in anything?

I've done the auto to 5 speed conversion and used spacers on the tranny mount to even it out, but the fact that its tilted shouldnt be the reason y it dies in reverse
did u do all the wiring that needs to be done around shifter? like the black-black wire and connecting is to the black white wire?
this is to actually have your car to turn.. it's like when your in D, and your car dies on you, then you try to crank it over, but nothing happens. just like that. if you do not do this before you try to start the car, then gas will keep trying to pump into the motor
im not sure though so let me know

Would he still need to do the wiring if he converted the entire harness to the manual harness? He's gotten the car to start before, but it's recently died on him again... I'm suspecting a bad dizzy but i'm not 100% sure. Is that wire on the auto harness or the manual harness?
