Default the hell do i do now?!!?!

so i was casually getting the lug nut off and i snapped the shank on one of the 4 posts. whatever you want to call it. what the hell do i do now? what is it that i need to replace? and how? i didnt cross thread it at all and it wouldnt come off so i just took a wrench to it...i must be ripped... check it son!

you'll have to bust the stud and replace,
you might not know how but its not a big deal.

if thats the front knuckle, you will have to take off the caliper, the rotor, and then have the hub pressed off in order to be able to push a new stud in

LOL Relax. I've done this twice (I'm the Hulk...or something) over-torque'in my lugnuts back on. Just go to AutoZone or AdvanceAuto and ask for a Lug "Stud". You'll need a shop to replace it but for now it's "okay" for you to have 3 of 4 lugs in place and can drive the car to get this done. The old half stud you broke needs to be popped out and the new one gets forced in but you need the right tools. Might want to get another lugnut for the new lugnut stud while you're at it.

front or rear? if its front its real easy. if its the rear takes a little bit more time. but overall very easy to take care of. new stud and lug nut should run u like 5 bucks total or less.

It's not "that" easy to replace a broken wheel stud. I currently have a stripped wheel stud and did research on how to replace it. People have said more than half of the time, once you remove the hub, you have to replace the wheel bearings. There's other ways of replacing it (cutting the dust shield, and pounding it out, then griding off a small part of the head of the wheel stud, then attempt to pound it back in). Shops and people that I've talked to that have done this said its not a small and easy task and I believe it. I ended up just buying a set of used gsr brakes....replacing mine with those, and selling mine this weekend. Should probably only lose like $20 or an hour of my time in the end....better than taking it to a machine shop, buying new bearings, buying a new stud, and whatever else imo

it is "easy" just take rotor off and pound on broken stud and put in another one and ur done and put everything back on

lol easy for me. dont see why its so hard for so many ppl. takes me 10 mins the front and about 20 mins for the rear. and i do it the correct way. i dont like that whole crap cut the head of the stud and pound crap. but thats just me.

you make it sound so easy, its not hard, but doing it correctly isnt easy

if you pound out the broken stud thats easy... but the new stud is too long to fit in without grinding (ghetto way) or pressing hub (wheel bearing) apart and doing it correctly

yeah its realy not that hard..
just take off the rotor and look..

i had to deal with this all the time!!
i have to do it for American Tire Company customers!
everytime ATC brakes one, they send the car to me, to repace!
for free!
