Default Heat in Integra

Do you have to wait until the temperature indicator starts registering before getting heat?

I seem to start getting heat (not much) even before the needle has moved.

Once the indicator has stabilized there is good heat.

Wondering if the thermostat is dying?

it's normal, you do get a little heat before the indicator starts to move. As long it moves after a few mins of driving, it's not broken.
