I have a 1999 3dr gs-r. The latch under the lip on the hatch doesn't open the trunk anymore. I have to use my key turning it all the way to the right to open it. I took off the back pnl and operated the latch and I can here it trying to do something and I can see the rod moving only a little not enough to release the door. Is that the actuator assembly (Illustration 25) or the tailgate lock assembly (Illustration 14) Per http://www.acuraautomotivepart...y.jsp? Any help would be great.

give her some good o'l wd40 . iv heard of that problem and the most common fix iv heard is just take it to a honda or ac dealership and have them fix it

 

tried wd-40 and silicon oil spray before didnt do anything. theres got to be a way to fix it without the dealer. anyone?

 

I am going to order the ACTUATOR ASSY only because it sounds like the motor is having trouble releasing the lock. I will let you know if it works. The part is only 59.00 dollars so it's not to expensive.

 

Well I received the ACTUATOR ASSY and installed it today. It works like new. Took 10 min to install. The motor must ware out after a while. I just thought I would share this info to those who are getting tired of using your key to open the trunk.
