Default Hard to shift?! Help!

Okay so I was driving around and decided to get on it and when I went to shift hard to 2nd and she wouldn't go in gear. I thought I just missed shift, but I never do. After that happend she wouldn't go into gear. I pumped the clutch pedal a few times then she went into gear finally. Ever since that happend, it's kind of rough to go into gears unless I'm shifting at low rpms then it shifts fine in all gears. It's even harder to downshift unless I'm going real slow and pump the clutch. The clutch feels still good and grabs good. I changed out the slave cylinder and bleed it numerous times, but same results. I don't hear any weird noises either. My buddy told me to try and new clutch master cylinder. What do you guys suggest? Oh my car is a 99 gsr teg with jdm gsr swap.

Have you had the tranny rebuilt?
The clutch pedal firm?
Shift linkage hooked up correctly?

Had the same problem with my 98 gsr. You need a new clutch disc and pressure plate. My clutch came out in pieces when I replaced it. Lol

X2

-Could be clutch
-Could be bad shift linkage bushings
-Could be the synchros in ya tranny

Tranny is stock with about 100k and shifted smoothe in all gears, so I don't think the tranny is messed up or the synchros. Clutch pedal does feel alittle softer. Checked the linkage and its hooked up correctly.

Yep, you busted a clutch disc spring or part of the metal surrounding one or more of the springs. Happened to me on my original clutch at 135K after a hard run to red line in 1st and 2nd gear.

A damaged clutch spring or bent finger(s) would not prevent clutch from "grabbing good" it prevents proper disengagement, replace the clutch. 94

Exactly - I didn't have any symptoms other than hard to shift before I replaced my original clutch. Pulled it out and found broken metal pieces and missing springs from the clutch disc.

A broken clutch disc spring prevented my car from going into 1st or reverse while the car was one. With the car off, I was able to get the car into gear.

It could also be bad motor mounts or shift linkage bushings. The fact that other gears do not give you problems leads me to believe the master or slave cylinder are not the problem.

My two cents would be check your master cylinder. This has happened to me on my GSR and my RSX-S a week after I purchased it. On my RSX I drove on it always noticing my clutch fluid slowly but surely dissapearing. Then the day i decided to bleed the line my buddy engaged the clutch to fix the air pockets and thats when i saw fluid squirting from my master cylinder. I didn't notice it for a while, but if your loosing fluid, i'd change out your CMC and CSC if i were you. Don't jump to the conclusion i did thinking I need a clutch, diagnose before performing work.

Bleed your clutchline and make sure the clutch master isn't leaking, if that don't fix it than its the pressure plate fingers as said earlier.

When was the clutch installed?

I bleed the line numerous times with no air bubbles when I put in a new slave cylinder and no leaks anywhere. Have no idea when clutch was installed by previous owner. For it to go in gears smoothe I have to be a low rpms or rev it up alittle.

Same thing here. Around the same mileage. Just driving around and went to shift, nothing. It turned out to be one of the helper springs had busted.

Yea its def one of the springs on your clutch. If you've ever driven a car with unsprung clutch its more difficult to get into gear jus like that

EDIT:
Jus got back from my friends.
His full face Exedy F1 clutch disc stopped grabbin on the ways to the track on friday.

Long story short we took it apart and his whole friction pad that contacts the flywheel is torn off.

Any ideas what happened guys im stumped.
It looks as if the pad just crumbled and the other side is still brand new.

Contaminated clutch disc, or poor flywheell surface when the clutch was installed, or improper break in procedure
