gsr question.
how many thousand miles do you have on yours. i found a gsr with a good price one thing. the car has about 145k. seller states that it runs great. but i have second thoughts. does anyone have over 150k on there gsr? and does it need a swap?
it all depends on how well they maintained it....any honda could go for ever as long as you take care of it....go check it out...take it for a test drive then go from there
i would say that with 150k miles, I would see who ha sowned the car, if its a kid, and its been upgraded adn all, its porbbaly not in the best shape internal wise, becasue they most likely drove it hard, but if its stock original owner then go drive it and drive other simliliar ones to compare it too. I wouldnt pay more than 5k for it.
do a compression test and leakdown test on the car. that will give you a good idea of what kind of condition the motor is in. also, check all the maintenance records and upgrade things that need to be upgraded. a honda can last over 200k so it all depends on how the owner treated it.
if the body is in good condition, then maybe you can take it for cheap and rebuild the engine (if you plan on modding it) or perhaps throw in the extra to get an engine swap.
I almost bought a 95 GSR with 142k on it when I first bought my car. He wanted 4k for it. I was going to buy it, part with whatever I could with the stock engine. Then, get an B18C1 or B18C5 and mod it. And I could have done that for under 10k. The body was flawless, the guy took good care of the exterior, just had a ton of miles on the engine. But I found a better deal on the 95 GSR I have now....62k on it
...and now its boost time

Bought my GSR with 120k, it runs great. When you test drive, be sure to rev it to the fuel cut in the lower gears and check for smoke. Mine burns oil at the rate of about 1-1/2 to 2 quarts between 3k oil change. More if I beat on it a lot. Do a search, lots of our cars burn oil! Other than that, look for the obvious as already covered.

120k on my 98, and it runs like the day I got it with 18k. If it was well cared for, 150k miles shouldn't be a problem. I have found the most annoying things are often not engine related when buying used cars, so engine mileage should only be part of it.
Squeeks, rattles, leaking **** and intermittent problems are the things you should be looking at as well. Take the car for a ride, if it feels solid than it might be worth the gamble.

My '95 has about 130K. Best 1/4 ever was at the 118K mark and I have not been to the track again since. Runs absolutely perfect.

i have a 94 GSR...bought it in 98 w/ 112k on it...but the owner had a binder full of maintenance reciepts, etc.....now the car has 161k...still runs like a champ!!!!! No problems what so ever except just having to place small usual stuff here and there..no biggy though
Ask him about the Timing Belt and Water Pump, make sure he had those done at 100,000 and he didnt try and stretch it out. That will be over 1000 right there. I got mine with 105,000 and put 11,000 on it since July. Exhaust had to be replaced, Timing Belt, Water Pump, Rear Brakes. Starts to add up. Check all this stuff out before you buy it, find out what hes had replaced recently.
yeah... mine only lasted to 140k, but that's with me learning to drive on it, and also thinking I was speed racer (and doing it wrong) till it went out
I got 111,000k in my 00 gsr. the car was in awesome condition. Timing belt and water pump were replaced. did a compression check and had 200 across the board. the only things that need to be replaced are the rotors, pads, and valve stem seals, and clutch. I have all of those chilling in my room, just need to find the time to install them. The damn car had so many miles because the original owner drove from pa to dc everyday for work. so this bad boy saw about 500-700 miles a week. When i saw my buddy run a 15 flat at the track bone stock i knew this car was the one.
