gsr launch
i just got my 96 gsr, and a couple of my buddies and i were arguing about a good launch, so i was just wondering, what some of the fellow gsr owners, normally launch at? thanks alot for any help.
i like to launch at 8k and in second gear. its a little slow in the begining but by thrid gear it pays off. (this only works in GT3)
in real life i try to stay around 4-5k
but i don't worry too much about launching. i plan on beating them in the twisties.

uh not a teg but its a GSR in an EG.......call BS all you want.......6k on kumho 712s.....pulling 2.21 60 fts......1/4 and trap could improve but im throwing a few codes.....and that was with the stock civic suspension with 160k
At the track I launch at 6K slipping the clutch to get as little wheel spin as possible, on the street I usually slip at 4500 or drop at 4000.

Bump!
I have an Eg hatch with a 98 GSR and looking to run her at the track soon.
When I launch on the street I'm usually around 2.5k. Anything higher and I just spin in 1st and most of 2nd. I also noticed that if I take off normal in 1st then punch it, I get bad traction
This is on 13" steelies

I can't imagine launching at 5k

I take it this isn't on your stock clutch?

Before when I was naturally aspirated....I'd launch at anything just above 4000 rpms on street tires.
Thats what worked best for me. You gotta launch in or as near v-tec as possible to get good 1/4 mile times. Took me a few trips to the track to learn that and as soon as I did, it dropped my times consistantly by .7.
Seems like it spun alot....even to much, but the times were better to my surprise.

you ran a best of 14.8 on 36psi? is it turbo, or is that 36psi in the tires? and how long is your clutch going to last launching like that?
