Default gsr header . .

i was doing research on a few headers for my gsr (mine's stock )
here's what i came up with . . .

greddy 421 - short collector, may give unwanted back pressure and slowing of velocity, good midrange power, not as good as one piece.

dc sports 421 - good low / midrange power, short collector, keeps velocity up, provides slight improvement in peak power because of the short collector, one piece.

and those are one of the top two that i've had my mind set on (budget mostly) my friend is selling a greddy 4-2-1 for 250, and i was really thinking about it. . . but then i saw the bisimoto 4-1 header and it looks sooo good, although it's quite expensive.

would you guys stick with a 4-1, or a 4-2-1? i may be incorrect, but i read that 421 is better for torque but 41's are better for power. . .

help please?

the style of header merely shifts where peak torque is usually made (it cant affect this placement by itself, its a combination of IM, Cams, exhaust planning that helps place peak torque)

I don't know very much about the Greddy header, but the DC is ****. If you just want a header for arguments sake then get whatever is cheapest. If you want something that will actually make power save your money and get an RMF, SMSP, or something along those lines. Search in the All Motor forum and you will find some good threads on headers.

i agree that dc headers is like mitsubishi with tv's, it's just not really "there"

you want peak hp go with 4-1, makes good top end,

i had a dc 4-2-1 one piece in my teg. i was pretty happy with it, but the quality isnt really there. i had a stainless steel header and it started to rust pretty badly after a year or so and stay away from the ceramics because they are crap. espcially the two piece. i bought a used one and it warped about two months after i bought it and cracked before i replaced it with the stainless steel one. iyour not going to feel any sort of power difference when you put just a header on your car. i barely noticed any sort of power increase with a full IHE set-up.

so in conclusion, i say go with the greddy header. buy the quality part over budget, because later down the road, your just going to pay more by buying a new header when the cheaper ones crap out.

wow thanks for all the help guys
but yeah . . . originally i've been thinking about buying the greddy 4-2-1 for a while now, almost 5 months. . . but i've been doing research and making sure it's a good buy. not only that, but my tires popped (really bad cambers, got them replaced tho) so that delayed in my buying of the greddy.

chinaski, after you put on the header, you won't notice any difference? at all? why is that? would you notice it at least a little bit, because of slightly better airflow and whatnot?

sorry i'm still learning some things, and that's why i'm here

If you have a good header you will notice some gain. Like I said, throw an RMF on there and you will notice a difference.

if youre car is stock...dont expect any wow effects besides more noise... For a breather modification such as any exhaust or intake components to make power they would have to had been a choke point for the engine. (Your stock engine probably wont need better air flow so putting a huge nozzle at the end of the garden hose would have little to no effect (and depending on how large you go could in all reality lose a bit of power, marginally though). All those DC components youre mentioning are more bling though

well . . i have basic bolt ons and a little more . . . (intake, exhaust, vtec controller, p28 chipped ecu) . . . that's about it. and then of course the obvious, the motor. i haven't done an headwork yet, but it'll be done pretty soon

DC Headers are great for their affordable price... Not the "greatest" but they provide real good flow.

Not everyone has the money for custom headers...i know i dont

i just checked out the all motor thread. . . people are saying that they're top quality headers, if not, the best.

i did a google search and i couldn't find the main website for their headers. . it came up with a few results from here, but nothing for their website again. the second page was "RealMedia File" stuff and all that.

i'll do a little more research around store sites to see if i can find them . . . but where's a good place to get them?
