my friend had a 95 gsr.. with 144k miles on the motor.. orignial.. and he overrev it to 9 grand and a retainer cracked.. whats the number one reason for a retainer cracking.. i know its prolly because of overreving. but is it due to heat, and the force of the springs being pushed up and down?
everyone is saying he had valve float.. whats the easiest and understandable way or explain what is valve float and what causes it?

valve float is when the springs can't keep up to the speed the valves are required because it is not strong enough or has fitigued in time.
he had a chipped p28 with lots of mods underhood.. IM, headers, TB etc..
overreved... so whats the reason retainer crack?
