dunno if this is a noob q...
but...

i grind on 3rd gear whenever i shift up to it, no matter wat RPM im at. but whenever i shift down to it, no matter how high was rpm was, its perfectly fine. no grinds.

my old civic also grinded on 3rd gear, but it grinded when i shifted up and down to it.

a friend told me i should change my clutch, another told me to jus swap tranny, and another told me to jus use penzoil syncromesh or gm syncromesh.

any help to get rid of these grinds?

 

well before you go and change the clutch or swap out the tranny, check the trans fuild lever. My integra had grinding going into 4th and 5th so I checked the fuild lever and found it was pretty low. I put more in and it hasn't grinded gears since.

 

my tranny does the same but only above 4k rpm at anything more than 50% throttle. 99.9% sure it's a bad syncro.

 

i had the same problem with my civic and also in my integra... i later realized that i had low fluid in my integra and the civic had a bad syncro.. we have the same problem now in my buddies integra and his bro's crx in the same gears... i personally think its something with honda where the syncro always goes in 3rd gear...

 

i have the same problem ,u kinda have to let the rpms drop below 4k and then hold it in until it grabs,idk im going to try changing my tranny fluid and see if it makes a difference for now but its mostly a bad snycro and ur tranny will have to be replaced or rebuilt

 

penzoyle(?) syncro mesh works good but it doesnt fix it. I had a third gear grind and now its gone. All the gears seem to be alil smoother to shift into also. But yeah check your fluid first.

 

change your tranny fluid first, and see if that helps. I used the syncromesh, and have had good results with that on a few cars.

How bad are your motor mounts? I replaced my motor mounts on my car when the syncromesh did not work, and the fixed my 3rd gear grind.
