Default Gauge cluster problem

I took some ricey indiglows out of an integra ..the dimmer switch had been cut to give power to the indiglows and the plug was cut off the switch and is not there. do i need to have this switch connected? The lights in the gauge cluster will not light up ..only the 3 illumination lights wont work..anyone know how that circuit works? The switch has 2 red and a ground the 2 red are already twisted together but it does nothing ..thank guys

I've always been under the impression that the dimmer switch needs to be present. It's possible to work without the dimmer switch, but I'd have to see wiring diagrams to figure it out.
