My Da9 was in the shop for a good month getting a tranny rebuild, its a automatic. Weeks of pestering with vague answers and no return calls the shop finialy said i can pick it up. They did have problems with the speedo-cable but once they said it was done I asumed everthing was fixed.
The major delay was due to a shipment error, and that part and a few others were free.
Me and a friend drove the car and he pointed out the speedo-cable wasnt working the tac was. We let it slide due to the extensive work they did the free parts and the fact that a transmisson expert was not willing to lay siege to my dashbord.
I have no problems taking apart my dash ive done it a few times. But the problem is i have no idea were to start.
When im driving it sounds like a motor is turning and clicking inside the gauge cluster. After a few hours instaling various things to the car my friend noticed the lights to the gauge cluster werent on or any other lights inside cabin.
When the key is turned to accessories the lights in the gauge cluster turn on then. It also sounds the thiers a metal clip bangin inside of it when i make a hard turn.
Is it just the gauge cluster? Should i go get one at the local pick 'n' pull? Or is it something bigger? [fingers crossed]
Any suggestions would help

if the sound is coming from the gauge cluster thats where i would start. i had a speedo die out on me on my 95 civic coupe. i thought it was the sensor on the tranny but it ended up being inside the cluster. my "educated" guess is replace the cluster and things should be good.
Well you said you don't have any lights in your cluster, nor in your cabin, right? So does this mean your climate control, and buttons don't light up? If thats it, that has to be wiring, fuse, and easiest, the dimmer switch. If you're dimmer switch is not plugged in, or is faulty, you're parking lights will not work. As for the speedo cable, pull the cluster and check both the cable itself, and the hole it goes into on the back of the cluster.

Is thier a fuse to the dimmer switch? They might of unpluged it because they were down there messing with the TCM. The Few lights that are on are un-dimable lights like the a/c buttons and the lights to the climite control, other then that nothing.
Can someone show me a picture of the back of the cluster and cable
