Exhaust Rust Question
Hey,
I recently bought a 98 GSR and it came with a greddy power extreme exhaust on it. I jacked the car up yesterday and found that from the back the pipe that goes into the resonator is all rusted around the connection, this is the reason I believe that it chooses to rattle sometimes at around 3k rpm. Wll my question is, where do I buy just that section of exhaust (resonator to cat)? Or could I use one of these exhaust repair kits Ive heard about. Thanks

take it to a muffler shop and see if they can get the rust off and smooth out everything or just have them make you a new pipe. But the rattling could be caused by the heat shield, so you should check that as well.
Rust by itself may not be why you hear the rattling. More than likely the resonator itself is scraped up right? If it is, it's probably broken up inside and that is what is causing the rattling, my RS*R did this between 2.5-3.5k and it turned out the resonator had broken up inside.
Well Im gonna really jack it up tomarrow, I only did one side yesterday and didnt find anything, yeah I was kinda suspecting the heat shield, it seems to not rattle sometimes and then it does some others so I dont think the resonator is messed up, well at least I hope not, Ill post tomarrow thanks for the advice though, Ill problebly sand and seal that rust
