2.5 inches, are you going turbo? I can't tell you what that sounds like, but that is rather large piping for such a basic setup. Do you have intentions to go turbo? If you get a resonator put in it won't sound so obnoxious.
Unless you're going FI, stick with 2.25" please.....
with bolt ons only you could even just graft the muffler onto the stock piping and it should work fine, just a cheap solution for you. this also keeps the resonator, so it'll be pretty quiet at low rpms.

NOT TRUE!! i am runnin a JDM ITR 2.5" header and 2.5" SMSP cat, and Fujitsubo RM01A, and my gs-r romps all my other friends gs-r's. Also i have 80k miles on the motor and its complete bone stock internals. So 2.5" def. does not hurt perf. all, if anything 2.5" will allow for more upgradablity for future engine work, and not to mention it yeild way more power them a 2.25" setup would on the same motor!!
yea but what kind of a difference would there be with a 2.5 inch exaust if your 2.25 makes 200 crank
Its not about the size of the boat, its the motion of the ocean here kids... think exaust gas velocity, not pipe size.
too big and you get dead areas that cause pressure... too small and you have too much pressure
