Default Engine noise upon start up?

Ok, so I know all cars are a little different and I know nothing about the Integra engine, but when I start the 1996 LS cold, I hear a bit of engine rattle for about two second. It doesn't sound like rod rap, but I know nothing about these things, so I thought I'd ask the collective. The car only has 74K on it. We bought if from the original owner. There are no mods and no sign of engine work. The reciepts show nothing more unusual than a radiator replacement.

BTW, I did a search first.

I don't know. I'd have to have someone start while Ilisten under the hood. I'll try that tonight or tomorrow.

Probably just a little bit of valve train noise till the oil pressure builds up. Try a valve adjustment.

sounds like a valve train noise, mine does the same thing once in awhile, it could also be the starter spinning down, which means its got some wear and tear, neither one is anything to be overly worried about though. i dont know the exact number but i believe the B18 needs a valve adjustment after 100-120k miles

I'd say the first thing you should do is get a Valve Lash Adjustment. That's a common maintenance step that people overlook, yet it makes SUCH a huge difference.

Whoa, thanks for all the responses. I'll have to get the manual to review the adjustment proceedure for this car. It only has 74K on it, so I'm hoping it is something relatively simple like this.
