LSVTEC = money left over
B18C1 = no money left over

This should let you know what i'm talking about:

Before this thread goes any further, we need to know what your goals, expectations, plans, and intentions are for the motor that will be installed.

What I mean is if you are going for reliability, then you may want to go with a GSR. On the other hand, if you want to save a few bucks and have a motor that will out perform (YES, OH YES, IT WILL BURY A F**KIN GSR POS MOTOR, however, you may want the gsr tranny. LOL).

The reason why you'll out run the GSR is because of the money you'll have left over. You'll be able to buy cams, pistons, intake manifold (or a hondata ecu instead). That's why!

NO, I DON'T NEED A CLARIFICATION FROM ANYONE, BECAUSE IT'S A COMMON SENSE SCENARIO. You'll have a little more than a grand left over which can go into BC3 cams and stuff like that. If you take it easy on the motor, and put it together properly, then it should hold up okay just like any other motor. I know that there are probably a few people out there that may have had bad luck with it, but the other millions who didn't have bad luck with it are spanking GSR's as we speak. LOL

I don't mean to bash GSR's or anything like that, but if you'll sit down and actually add up everything, then you'll realize that I speak the truth.

Good luck!

Don't forget about tuning. That motor will need it.
I'm not a big fan of the LSVTEC motor. Power, sure but reliability pretty much suck.

In an Integra, a fully swapped H22a will cost nearly $200 less than that of a GSR. It's hard to believe isn't it? But a GSR swap isn't cheap, no matter what way you look at it. You could nearly go out and buy another car with a GSR in it for the same amount of money that it would take to swap in a GSR.

Dollar per horsepower, you'll lose with a GSR.

Best bang for the buck right now, would be to order a B20B from passwordjdm.com right now..

they're like $599.00 for a longblock or two for $999.99.. Buy a distributor and find a tranny cheap and you'll be set.. Even putting out a LITTLE more TQ then the stock LS.

im sure LSVTEC set ups will cost more than a c1 motor.. there are other things u need for an LS V conversion to make it run just as hard

Well, i'm pretty f**kin sure that it would if I were to go out and buy the most expensive sh*t on the market. We're talking about a complete GSR engine, tranny, and ecu, not just the motor. By the time you get it in the car and get it running correctly, you've sunk over $3500 into it. An LSVTEC setup shouldn't cost within $1000 of a GSR swap. Additionally, it would be an even greater variance depending on which parts the buyer already has. Therefore, by the time the buyer equals his investment in his LSVTEC to that of a STOCK GSR, he/she should bury a GSR.

People also need to grow some *****, because there are alot of people who purchase a kit instead of machining the head themselves when mating it to an LS block. Also, how overly expensive could a $150 set of brand new P30 pistons be? I mean, it's not like someone is going broke over it. Then, around here, it's roughly $50 to have the new pistons mated to a set of connecting rods. Then you'll need a head gasket set which runs in the neighborhood of $75 to $95. There are other costs, but no where near the cost of a GSR swap.

Look, beating a GSR isn't that hard considering the amount of money that someone SHOULD have left over. No matter how you look at it, a GSR will always be a GSR, EXPENSIVE.

Let's try not to complicate things, OKAY!

Good idea. You can also get a p8r head for pretty cheap, and some PHK (b2oz higher compression) pistons, throw some crower cams and tuning...you got an all motor beast,...

^ exactly. an ls-vtec motor built right will last as long as it is taken care of and not beaten to hell. If I were in your shoes I would save for the gsr or type R swap.

if you thinking about saving money go lsv, but if you have a higher budget go b18c1 or h22a

I'm glad to see that the original poster has opted for an LSVTEC setup. LSVTEC w/P30 pistons,s
from hmotorsonline.com, for just over $150 brand new.
