Default electrical gremlins help please!!!!!

I own a 95 turbo gsr with crane ignition and all the other goodies. my damn battery light always pops on during the day when slowing down, but never when my parking/headlights are running at night. does that sound like a bad alternator or a short somewhere? btw optima battery is a month old and alternater is a year old alterstart unit.

WEll, i know your alternator doesnt kick into after 1k on the rpm, so when you slow down and your tach drops below 1, thats why that might be happening, go somewhere to get your battery tested.

Please, correct me if i am wrong.

it did the same thing on my old optima battery that lasted 10 months, but whats funny is it dosent pop on at that low of rpms, its usually between 2k and 3k slowing down. As soon as I turn my lights or any accesory on, the batt. light goes out!!

I would think it might be a lose wire, a ground or something maybe, check all of them, or, i guess to the accessories that you think might be the culprits, and then see what happens. Have you ever needed a new alternator?

Is it really cold out where you live?

all of my grounds are good, I even unhooked my entire stereo system. only thing hooked up is my turbo timer, boost & oil pressure gauge. No its not cold here, its hotter than a hoe on Sat. night. I never really needed a new alt, matter of fact I ran my 1000 watt system on the old alt for years until we got a lot of rain last year and water was high enough to get in my floorboard.after that my voltage went down to 12.5 and not 14.2or.4

There would almost have to be a loose wire some where.

Do a voltage check at certain rpms. to see if it dips between 2-3k

You prolly right cuz this didnt happen till my mechanic did a clutch job last year due to moisture in the bell housing which caused it to sieze up. the hard part is trying to find that wire. any suggestions?

it should go from the battery to the frame or trace the Negative wire. Also I believe there is a ground on the tranny so It might not be hooked up and that could be your problem.

I put a new ground wire from the frame to the tranny, but maybe I put it in the wrong place. I'll see if I can get a pic up tomorrow to show you where I put it.
