Everytime, I lock my car, it makes a clicking sound, like its trying to lock, but then it doesnt. So sometimes i can't even lock my driver's side door. Anybody know what could be wrong?
the click is probably the door lock relay... before my door lock motor died.. it would make the relay click (normal) then a whine for 1 second... then later on.. it would lock periodically.. or sometimes not lock.. so that when I armed my alarm.. i would have to make sure it locked.. then finally it just gave out.. to where you see the door lock tab try to budge (it moves a little).. but not enough to lock the door... I had to replace the door lock motor...
if your click is something else.. I'd check the rods and connectors from the door lock motor to the door lock tab and see if any of those are stuck or obstructed..

Are you trying to lock the door with the door open or closed? If you are trying to lock it with the door open you will need to pull the door handle and at the same time press the power lock button. The driver's side door has a safety feature which prevents the door from being locked without using the key (see owners manual). The only way to by pass the lock feature is to pull the door handle and lock the door (not in owners manual).
