Default crower 403

I just installed some crower 403 camshatfs for a buddy of mine that he picked up from someone for cheap. My question is should the valves being adjusted to oem spec or otherwise? For some odd reason the cam gear marks are not lined up exactly at TDC, but when i retarded the distributor the marks lined up perfect. However the car runs and has full throttle response and what not without retarding the distributor. All help is appreciated.

crower cams really should be degreed with adjustable gears. the one set i used was off compared to oem. next, the lash specs are on the cam card. you can call crower tech support for a copy of the cam card which will have the cam specs and lash.
