of my ****** exhaust!!! i've had it on for about 1year now.. no problems, drove up and down the street, by cops for that matter, and they didnt do anything, so last night i go to take my cousin home from aol, to his house and i he was to my right side of me (right lane, im in the middle lane) and a little down from me.. car was at 35mph in a 40mph, and rev. at 1900rpm's, so exhaust was a tad bit loud, but way quiter then the bikes and muscle car's.


so im thinking of putting my oem one back in, cuz im kinda getting tired of a sorta-loud exhaust, if that makes sense. OR, what exhaust looks stock, sounds stock, but is not stock. basically looks stock from the un-trained eye, and to a cop. and fits a 90-93 integra?

or you can get a magnaflow setup pieced together and paint it flat black in bbq paint

 

sux but is the best performance exhasut always going to be the loudest??

 

try a larger/oval-shaped muffler rather than the round/N1 styles; they're generally quieter...RS-R, Greddy SP, Magnaflow, etc. Then paint it w/ black hi-temp paint....
I have the Greddy SP painted black and from behind (ie. what the cop sees) it looks pretty close to stock and is not so loud as to attract attention, yet still gives performance gains over the stock unit....

 

I gotta greddy sp on my 94 gsr and i still got a ticket! i wasnt going to argue w/the cop bc i had just come back from the bar! (i wasnt drunk or anything, but still didnt wanna chance it).....apparently in fl, anything louder than stock is illegal which is crap since a stock cobra is a lot louder than my car!
to laws that dont make sense!

RSR is real quiet, i used to have areal loud custom setup and got tired of it cuz of the cops.

1900 sounds like a LOW RPM to me.

 

not sure in other states but in CA the are asses about modifications and smog... i got a "fix it" ticket (later finding out @ court that its not corrrectable anymore) and i took it to the state smog ref, took a soudn test, and meet the states noise level limits. &lt;95db (i got 93db). this makes my n1 street legal. so when i get pulled over now, i just show them the sticker, no questions asked (i hope).

 

apex n1 catback actually pas 95 decibel that exhaust is loud as hell.Did you use a silencer, and what rpm did they test it to

 

lol i used a silencer 93.1db @ 4725rpm stock 98 ls. its not as loud as you think. when you hold the rpm steady, its not loud becuase the air is not moving fast or slow, its steady. i was lucky that they did not put " baffle installed" (silencer) my friend who got a ticket @ the same tiem i did, he took it to the ref and took the test adn they put that he had a "baffle" but he passed @ 88db with his tanabe axelback, im sure he would pass without it as well.

 

hmmm....i wonder if they do that in FL...im gonna hafta research that...but if anyone knows, let me know......i had just got a $60 ticket and it wasnt a fixit one, so i just paid and am hoping not to get another!

 

1900 rpms thats really low

 

I had the same problem with my 2nd Gen teg, and it was even worse when I dropped a GSR in it, if your racing its great but going to work and school back and forth it even gave me headaches; it was so bad I when I still had my other Teg I was coming home from work, it gave me such a back headache I pulled into this local muffler shop and had them put in a resinator for V8 trucks and it helped a little bit but Vtec kicks in and forget about it, I was right back where I started, it help a little. My boys use flowmaster, they make great sleepers cause they look stock and dont really open up till your flooring it. If anything you'll have to live with it. I even had a cop follow me to my boys house and told me he was waiting for me to drive off so he could give me a ticket for the muffler, thank god I had my silencer in the back seat, so I just screwed it in and drove off in front of his *** and there was nothing he could do. Ticket might not even hold up in court, just tell them you put the stock back. Good luck.

 

we got a new law last year that makes an aftermarket exhaust of any kind an instant court date(promise to appear) but our cops arent harassing people too bad about it. i know one place not too far away to cut back on racing they use this law and a couple others to hammer on people with modified cars.

 

Damn bro, that sucks... I know I've driven by a lot of cops and my exhaust is considerably loud, so i'm sorry to hear that you found an *******. GL on finding a new exhaust.

RSR EXMAG is the best exhaust in my opinion. Almost as quiet as stock, and made the exact same(+/-1) HP/TQ from 6k-8.5k rpms with the muffler on and then straight b-pipe(LOUD)... in other words it is very well designed.

Less than 500 shipped for the complete system and all gaskets/hardware.

 

so that bar certificate allows you to run your apex exhaust legally on CA roads? thats amazing because the apexi n1 is earsplitting

i live here in albuquerque new mexico, not sure if you guys are familer with the law's down here, but what do you think they'll do to me? i have a clean record.. no speeding tickets, nor any history. think they'll just say to change it and that'll be done with or are they going to slap me with a fine, cuz if so, i have no way of paying it, im flat broke.

and if they say that i'll have to change it, come back and show proof, how the hell do i do that if i have a guy up the street do it for me. no reciept. do i just do some sort of writing, or take pictures? or what? or do they just take my word for it?

I got ticketed on my old car 1989 240sx w/3 inch apex N1. It was fine until I yanked the turbo motor out, then 3" was too much. I run a Greddy SP2 on my 1994 DB8 GS-R, it works good, not too loud.
