Consequenses for using tire plug ?
Hopefully none...I just plugged mine a few days ago.
As of this morning, its still holdin' air
Just keep an eye on it for a few days. As long as the plug is going in the contact patch area of the tire, you should be fine. NEVER plug a hole on the sidewall...that can get dangerous.
Hope this helps

What are the consequeses for using plug to fix nail hole ?
Did they patch it inside out? Taking the tire off the rims and installing it from the inside out? If they didnt, its not recommeded that you drive for a long period. However, I also have my tire plugged from the outside in and its been over 6 months and I dont see a problem. If you have the money then replace the tire. Otherwise, if your ghetto like me and cant afford it then dont worry too much about it. Keep an eye out for the psi at least for a week. If you dont see a drop in psi then I think your ok.
Take the tire over to discount tires, they will fix it right. I got my tires fixed there. autox 3 times, drove long trip for 10 hours twice and it is still holding up very well.
i had never seen any problem ever with one, untill my friend had a puncture near the side wall...the plug bubbled and blew on his way home but it was a 8 hr drive and he was probably was running 80-90mph the whole time which would cause extrem heat.......so thats why i think it blew

will a tire plug ever shoot out or have the possibility of shooting out?? anyone experience or heard about this?? cause i just put one in today and i commute across the bay area everyday...any wanna know if its safe...im pretty sure i did a good job on putting it in..
I have plugged tires for 15 years now, all on my own vehicles and never a problem. As for pulling the tire off the rim, that is for when you use a patch.
Like mentioned earlier, only use plugs if the nail was in the tread, not sidewall. And there are different grades of plugs as well, some of the cheap ones didn't pan out so well for me because they break when pushing them in.

Here's how DOT looks at it. I work for Tire Kingdom, and we don't plug tires at all. The DOT doesn't qualify a plug as a "proper" repair. Just a temporary fix, until you can either get it patched, or get a new tire. The reason is, there is nothing holding it in except the stickiness of the plug. When you drive, your tires heat up, and the pressure raises, which could blow it out, as someone has already pointed out. A patch on the other hand, obviously can't come through the tire, and blow out. They also are set on the tire with a vulcanizing glue, which bonds the patch and the tire together. Also when either plugging or patching a tire, the tire can no longer be speed rated, since the structural integrity of the tire has been compromised.
Now, as far as patches go....you can't patch within one inch of the sidewall on the tread, or on the sidewall itself. Not only does this part of the tire have flex to it, a sidewall puncture weakens it, and could cause problems. also, on a passenger car, the hole can't be more than 1/4 inch in diameter, or 3/8's of an inch for light truck tires.
Don't hold me to any of this...this is what I was taught in class while training at Tire Kingdom. So I apologize if any info is inaccurate.
