I've had no fitment issues and I think comptech products are top notch. They make parts for real time typeR's.

Fitment problems, NO. As far as quality, it is no where near OEM. It's made of a cheaper plastic, the trims are not smooth, and the cover snaps on. It is not held by screws like OEM.

I have one on my gs-r and highly reccommend it. It is not as loud as the aem cai, but you can definitely tell it is not stock. I did not have any fitment problems and I feel it is good quality.

I noticed the same thing after taking off my AEM CAI. The low and mid response was much better. As for fit, I've had no problems. It fit better than my AEM did. The sound is a lot quieter, and that's what I wanted. It is a little louder than stock, but not much. I did buy the Comptech intake tube to go with my Icebox. I've thought about putting the AEM CAI back on, but I really like the Icebox better.

Will icebox work with
a generic intake like focuz or matrix?

I don't know. But on the Type R, it will work the factory intake tube. You just need an adapter to attach the foam filter. Comptech sells that piece.

yea all you need is the icebox itself, and the comptech filter. Is it just me, or does anyone elses AEM get really annoying sometimes... i really wanna rip it out some days. But then again, it sounds incredible at 5000+rpm. I dont know.. it just bothers me sometimes....
