Default Compression test results and Mod ideas

So, i have picked up a 140k DD 98 GSR. When i drove the car had a 3rd and 4th high RPM grind. Did routine maintenance Trans had about a qt of oil in it. Grind got a little better but still there. Then also did everything from plugs,oil,fuel filter belts etc. Did a comp test + WOT and got 240 221 220 219 i was very surprised to say the least. Opinions on the readings? One thing i noticed was a little smoke blowing at the top of 3rd and 4th when letting off the gas, could just be due to no cat though. Now I'm looking to add just a bit more power to make it a little more fun of a DD. With the high miles, i figure do external mods that i can use elsewhere if something goes wrong. Mani, TB, Fuel rail etc. Also was debating on putting in my extra cometic hg to bump compression. I know best thing then would also be to resurface the head. What are your thoughts? I have a H2B Eg6 that I have my fun with and invest the money in, but I am a huge DC2 platform fan and wouldn't mind Adding a little power with the handling. Just want it reliable.

those are good numbers however 240 then 220,220,220 is a little od and is close to the max variance of 25psi but nothing to worry about really as you're over 200. as for mods just do bolt on's there is NO NEED for a upgraded fuel rail, regulator or pump unless you're getting it turned or boost/240+ all motor. where you start is up to you most ppl do with the exhaust first.

Thanks for the input. I also found it a little strange. Was hoping to see it go 240 across the board after the first cylinder But was happy with the above 200 as you said. I do have a Phearable ecu from a previous build that i could put in along with the fuel upgrades. I did order 4-1 headers and put on a SRI for now of course. Jw on what people have seen from basic bolt on's and what worked best together.
