Default clutch question...

Has anyone ever felt their clutch pedel seem to losen up if they launch their car and then run all the gears. I was racing someone and when I launch and hit second I noticed that my pedal pressure was a little less then normal. I know that my clutch did spin a little but I thought with having a hydro tranny that the pressure will never change.

No, that is not true. A hydrualic clutch will fade as well. Especially if it is an older clutch with alot of miles or abuse on it, and is getting close to death. What happens is, the pressure plate diaphram is getting hot and soft due to the slippage at launch, the disc is slipping and creating more heat and warpage, then at the next pedal stroke, it will feel soft; even though, usually by the time the run is over, things cool down a bit and the pedal will most often return to normal.
Some things to help this: good clutch components- no autozone discs or pressure plates, flushing and bleeding your hydraulic system(heat from repeated launches can actually begin to boil old, dirty fluid and cause pedal softness), and make sure your giving that clutch time to rest between launches, before pounding on it again. Also, be sure to check pedal free play; some people believe that hydraulic clutches never have to be adjusted, not true, there still has to be correct freeplay at the pedal or you can have problems. One inch of free travel, before it starts to push that clutch m/c piston in it's bore is about right.
