Default Clutch Problem?

I drive a boosted gsr with a clutch i got about a year ago brand new from a friend. I have had no problems with it until tonight. I did a quick pull on the highway for a few seconds and as i was pulling into my friends apartments the car died while i had the clutch engaged. I was able to start it back up after a few tries. I parked it outside his house for about twenty minutes and came back out and tried to start it and it would not start. The battery was fine, when i tried to start it, the car would click one time but would not start. We push started it and i got it home, where i had no trouble out of it. I turned it off and started it back up 3 times with no problems. But i left a few minutes after that to see if it would run right and it did for a second and when i pressed the clutch in it would die. It would start up fine but when i would start to engage the clutch it would start to grind real loud and i could feel strong vibrations in the clutch pedal and when i pushed it down slightly it would die. Anyways, i hate to make such a long post but i am looking for insightful help from anyone who has had a similar experience.

Thanks

Let me see if I understood correctly, you say when you try to ENGAGE the clutch (lift your foot off the peda) it would die? or the other way around (when you push the clutch pedal in)

its not my car but he's a good friend of mine and i was there when it happened. what happens is when u start pushing in the clutch pedal you start hearing a loud grinding sound which gets louder the more u push the clutch in, the more u push it in the louder the grinding sound gets until the rpms start dropping and the car stalls. the only way to get it moving is to feather it a BUNCH and pretty much floor it

Just pull the tranny off...could be anything. Bad pilot bearing, springs in your clutch, disks, pressure plate...etc

Fidanza, and if you have not got a clutch yet, we sell performance clutches for a good price.

I think i found out what it was, lower tranny mount is busted and as i was looking in my haynes manual that was one of the causes of a chattering clutch. Thats better than a new clutch.

howd you make out with the clutch issue... mount isnt gonna cause grinding noise but let us know how it works out.. sounds like clutch release bearing or something along those lines.. maybe transmission

The Hayne's manual said that a bad lower tranny mount would cause chattering as the clutch pedal was being pressed. I'll find out here in a few days when i put my new one on.
