Default chipped ecu's?

i have a 91` integra b18 turbo setup. Im thinking of buying a chipped ecu from rich tuning. he says that by me telling him my set up and all that is done to it, that he can create a chipped ecu and send it to me for 185.00 shipped. of course its obd1 and i have converted my car over to obd1 so it should be a plug and play. let me knw if this is a good idea or not. Or is it better to go with a dyno tune? im leaning more toward a dyno tune because of the diff. baro pressure changes, sea level etc. let me know

Do the dyno thing its safer and get a good local tuner that specializes in hondas even if you have to take the car to another city in your state its defently worth it in the long run. Dont take the chance of a unknown chipped ecu and have a dead spot on the tune and blow all your hard work and money.

1. if you value your engine starting you will never drive a car with a turbo strapped to it without an actual tune

2. mail order tunes are ballparks and should be finalized by a local tuner who can datalog and actually make the car run right

3. questions like this will get better feedback in the forced induction forum

First of all if you're sticking with an obd1 Honda Ecu for tuning, then you'll need a chipped ecu no matter what. The basemap is just for you to start the car to check for leaks, etc and get it to the tuner.

A tune is a must on any modified motor. So the answer is you'll need both. There are other options as well. Chris at Xenocron.com may be able to help you out.

Im going to stick with the tune on dyno. Its not the expensive either. I have a tuning company called big three racing that's chipping the ecu and dyno tuning for 650 out the door. I believe its a good price and its local. But yea thanks for the feed back, the only reason why I asked is because I had the greddy turbo kit and blue box on my 99 gsr and tuned it on the dyno. Ran like crap until the tune because the blue box was base mapped in cali and im in ohio. Big change it weather conditions, and parameters.
