CEL code 71 and 73?
i checked what they meant from a website and it said cylinder misfire or random cylinder misfire on cylinder 1 and 3. Does this mean that plug or wire is due for change? i just resetted ECU and the light doesnt come on anymore but just wanna make sure.
Yeah I have the same problem... 71, 72 & 74. I have no clue how to solve the damm problem is... I was checking my distributer ap and rotor and plugs and wires since they are fairly new and just replaced a while back ago. I still haven't taken it to the dealer
. Hopefully you can fill me in on something I don't know. I don't even know if it's safe to drive the car.
I bought a fuel injector cleaner (Valvoline Syntec) and I poured it in. Then while I was driving last night in traffic, my motor was getting really hot. Over the half way mark and almost to the red.

This problem is a random misfire on the corresponding cylinder. I have had this problem. It can be caused by heatsoak occuring on your plug wires. Although, my problem turned out to be more simple.
There are 2 main things that could cause it - Fuel and Spark.
If it's in your fuel, you may try a fuel system cleaner. Don't scrimp on this, buy something that is proven to work.. no generics. It could be the fuel filter, or a faulty injector.
If it's in the spark, as my problem turned out to be, check EVERYTHING in your ignition system. My problem was running an NGK spark plug which was 1 heat range too cold. I switched to a hotter plug (NGK BKR6E11) and the problem was eliminated.

thanks for all the reponses guys
i think i will try to change plugs and wires but i'm not sure about injector cleaners... i've been hearing nothing but bad things about them so hmm... gas mileage on my car hasn't been so great lately so it could be either plug or fuel system like someone said above.
