if you have a heavily mod'd all motor .... a high flow exhaust .. ( highflow cat , testpipe same thing) you WILL benifit from .... backpressure is less of an issue the more powerful you make that motor

with just I/H/E you will prob not benifit much at all but if you plan to continue to upgrade past that... you will benifit more and more from having it

it will increase your exhaust note db'zz too hehe so prepare yourself

I'm basically I/H/E and I noticed a nice high end difference w/a test pipe.

yea i prob should have worded it a little different ... you prob do see a little something on the high end ... but your going to be trading some low end for it .... with a high output motor your not really gonna loose anything on the low end and testpipes / highflow catz are much more benifical

as far as which to get ? there basically the same thing .. i can see straight through my highflow cat.... if i could have found a straight pipe/test pipe at the time i ordered my highflow .. i would have bought that insted... should be cheaper ...

do test pipes make your car so loud that you'll wake up the neighbors are or they only slightly louder than highflow cats? I like the price of test pipes and would like to get that if i wont get in trouble with it

your exhaust will be significantly louder.... significantly! ... if you need to ride in stealth mode .. you def dont need one of these ... you can still keep the low deep tone through the neighborhood somewhat .. but you will have to get used to driving slower..barely having the throttle pressed.. in noise sensative areas (:

but definately gives you that loud race car sound ... and depending on what you like you may not even like it .. i have a slight buzz sound at times ... im sure the note is going to still change somewhat the more powerful i make this motor ... but when you downshift and get on it with the highflow cat.... believe me ... everyone driving on that street is gonna know your coming in a hurry

its also a good tool to let slow drivers, driving in the fast lane, know to get the F' out of the way (:

not true - depends on the exhaust he is running. i have a test pipe on my 12:1 b20/vtec and it sounds exactly the same with the greddy sp exh.

Wha are the laws and penalties concerning a test piupe in VA? Is that a concern...if you don;t mind risking it I say Test Pipe all the way.

test pipe in VA is like death. Especially in Northern Virginia....VA is really ******* strict with vehicle safety and emissions, in some cases (not all by far) worse than CA

Emissions isn't too bad. My car passed emissions last month

And as for the test pipe, your gonna lose low end torque.. and gain top end power.
It's best if you have a pretty heavy modified car.

yea im sure you drug the DB meter out (: jk mannnn i guess if you a traditionally quite/restrictive exhaust initially ..or one with a silencer it might not be as noticable ...

awww im disjointed now... i always thought high flow cats would make the car quieter then a test pipe... by quieter i thought it would sound like stock...

i like my 5zigen on my integra right now.. its pretty quiet.. but when you step on it.. its pretty nice sounding..

i dont like cars when you can hear them from a city away...

i think if you have a cat thats on right now thats really old, it might be clogging up the exhaust, so a testpipe might seem MORE better, than it really is. but hey, its dirt cheap compared to a new cat.

my cat converter is messed up right now and i don't want to spend the cash to get it replaced from honda. would a test pipe or an aftermarket convertor be a better choice? price is kind of an issue as well. but i was wondering if there are any oxygen sensors in the factory cats? i've got a 94 gsr.

actually, when i performed my swap, the header to b-pipe connection was too short, thus the emergency need for the test pipe. believe me, it isn't a perma-fix - just something to keep me on the road as i need my car to go to work.

relax

yes test pipe would be your best bet ... and yes GSRz have the o2 sensor in the cat .. soo your test pipe would need the o2 sensor hole ..

i have a 94 gsr too....no check light...just make sure the test pipe you end up getting has an o2 bung...just screw it in, plug in the harness...and bam, you got your self cheap power!

if i heard right i think the engine light would come on if you replace the cat without putting the oxygen sensors back in, also it wil mess up your ECU. a technian told me this, can anyone confirm it?
