cam install problem

Default cam install problem

when putting the cams back into the car, when i put the intake cam in and line the cam gears up at TDC, i can't get the distributor side of the cam to sit down into the head. I can get it to sit down when i turn it, but then its not at tdc. help a noob plz. thanks

like i can't get the left side of the cam down into the head. The lobes are against the valves and i can't push the cam down to get the cam caps on. If i rotate the cam it sits down into the head but then it is not at tdc.. help me out please. Virus thank you for the feedback

Have a friend hold the intake cam till you get the belt on. Of course your friend is going to have to use a wrench to hold the cam down at a certain position. Get it? What kinda cams are you putting in anyways?

one side of the cam, sould not sit flush in the grooves, until i put the cam caps on. Have you done this? After that you should be able to move cam to TDC

It's normal for that to happen. One thing you might want to make sure is that you loosened the valve adjustment screws.
Just get the cam caps and plates in, keep the caps level as possible and torque it down.

Your cams are lined up right, but what about your crank. Make sure it is in the right position because pistons at TDC don't like valves pushed on them.
