Brake lights stuck on
OK I drive a 95 LS and I'm at work right now and a security guard just came in and told me my brake lights were on. I went out to check and they are stuck on. I think maybe what might have caused it is the fact that I use that club device that goes underneath the brake pedal and locks onto the steering wheel to keep the pedal from being pushed in. I pressed the brake in and out and its still stuck on. I had to pull the fuse for it to turn off. I work the night shift so I won't be able to do anything with it till 7am but does anyone know what I should check for? Is there anything around the brake pedal that might be stuck? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance .
LOL, the plastic piece broke out of the hole that pushes in the switch to turn off the light on the pedal bar. I work at the hospital so I took an insulin syringe and pulled the push part out that has the mushroomed head and put it in the hole and taped off the end. Thanks for the advice.

They should but even if its a syringe it should be without the needle like the hospitals ehre

This just happened to my car as well. I haven't gotten around to looking up under the dashboard, but I found little pieces of plastic all about. After time, I guess the plastic got brittle and cracked. Has anyone here replaced this part and have a part # for it?

Is the plastic piece right under the rubber part of the brake pedal or is it high up on the arm, closer to the firewall. The Helms never really mentions this, I just got lucky I remembered a friend mentioning something the plastic pieces some time ago.
You can use just about anything to plug the hole in the arm where the switch engages. I used a plastic body fastener, you can use a nut and bolt, and I have even heard of someone glueing a dime to the arm.
I just had this same problem happen to my 1991 Honda Accord. I found the remains of the stopper on the floor board and my brakelights wouldn't go off. I disconnected my battery and searched the internet for answers. Luckily I found this forum! I've temporarily taped a dime over the hole where the stopper was and the brake lights are now working fine. Pep Boys didn't have the part but the Honda dealership should have it in a few days....the cost is less than 3 bucks.
