when u say break in...how do you break it in? SOme pad manufacturers recommend you to brake aggressively, and it will be normal to smell pads.

If you continue to smell odor a while after you have taken off the brakes, something is not right.

by break in i just mean like the first few inital days of breaking. but if this helps the caliper was sticking and so i replaced it today and put in new pads. but with the old pads and old caliper it wasnt making that smell. so could something be wrong with the new caliper or is it just the bads or could even possibly that something was on the pads like maybe a tiny bit of brake fluid got on the pads? any more advice would be GREATLY apricitated
any stain on the brake disc will be rubbed off right away. So its not fluid on the disc. The thing you are smelling should be brake pad. Does the smell persists? If it does, try jacking that corner off the ground and spin the wheel by hand. See if it is rubbing or not. If no, then probably things are alright
well i just put the pads on today and i asked a couple guys if that was normal and they said it was but if it doesnt go away after a few days to get it checked out. got any ideas on what i could be if it is rubbing with tire of the ground?
maybe the pads are not inserted right so it doesnt align parallel, and keeps rubbing the disc...or the disc itself is shot. If the disc is unbalanced you can feel it thru the brake pedal. Just try if the wheel can spin freely
Try drving for a day or 2 to see if that persist. The smell is probably just the bonding resin of the pad material burning in the first usage. Perfectly normal.
