It kinda depends on what year & model Integra you have. You must have OBD2 ('96+) otherwise the ECM doesn't know if the cat is working or not. You'll have 2 O2 sensors but maybe they're not bad.

Did you get the fault codes (check-engine-light codes)? That'll tell us a lot.

I may be no expert, but I can tell you that I have had no less than 5 Cats on my DA6. 1 OEM, 4 Aftermarket. OEM started to give higher emissions levels about 100K+ miles. The other 4 have all been Random Tech Cats. Why 4 you ask.... Broke 3 and 1 failed emissions after 2 years of use. All replaced under warranty since Random has a 5yr coverage. Many years ago it was $200+ for the Cat. I can tell you if the cat for your model is similar to mine (you didn't say which one you have) you will need only 1 gasket for the back. Where the cat fits to b pipe. For mine it is the same size gasket that fits on a Chevy V8 truck. Since I have changed several times I bought extras at Advance Auto Parts (aprox $1.50) by matching the opening on the new Cat. The front just slips over the header collector.

The only INSTALL problems I have had with the Random Tech part is the front flange bolt hole openings are not the right size for the oem Honda bolts on the DA. You need a Dremil or something similar to grind the holes larger to fit the Honda spring bolts. You can use straight bolts instead of oem, but they made the car vibrate more from the lack of flex like in the oem setup. I don't know, some people like it.

I don't remember about the o2 senson cost. That was replaced some time ago, but I do remember it was up there. I get oem parts from http://www.ahmotor.com . Cost less than the dealer. Shipping is low since I am one the East coast, and oem is almost always better than local parts shops parts.

Yea i agree that you have 2 o2 sensors , and as far as carsound goes they make good stuff check them out i think their units are around $100 or so , so worth a look. Peace

I don't remember the error code #s at the moment, but...
If your mechanic read the error codes, there's one code that says something like "catalyst efficiency no good" and there's a different code that says something like "secondary O2 sensor malfunction". Maybe your car threw both codes, maybe only the catalyst code. We can't really answer which it is...

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold
If that's the only code, then it looks like your cat.

Check out
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=466877
That's Chiovnidca's post with a big list of all those codes. The secondary O2 sensor is kinda related to this, because that's what the ECM uses to decide if the cat is OK. If you get a code for the secondary O2 sensor, then you gotta decide if a screwed-up sensor is giving a false alarm about your cat.

Get a Carsound from either:

http://www.ipsracing.com/engin....html

or
SMSP

It will cost about $180-$200 from each site, but you're going to get a cat that has the proper bungs and flanges in place.

i had the same problem. the cat might not be bad.. a simple reset of the ECU ( i think) will do the trick. and if not..yes new O2 sensors about $50 each give or take depending on how/where you get em and a after market cat is around a hundo like others have stated.

Call 'em & find out. They might have to honor the warranty anyway. Different states - different laws - I don't know how it works in CT.
