b20vtec into a DA
so I have a 1990 Integra GS (non-OBD for those of you that don't know) and I'll be getting a swap together over the next few months and I'm deciding between LSvtec and b20vtec. I have a bunch of guides on DA swaps but none of them make any mention about putting a b20 in the car.
Either way I'm using a 92+ b16 head, just the choice is between an LS or B20 block. Can I use the B18 wiring harness on the b20 block? What other things do I need to look out for when swapping a b20 into it. The car will probably be getting turbo'd over the summer as well.
Thanks

Yea you can use the OBD0 harness on the B20 or even a newer LS. I have. I used the OBD0 harness on the 93 LS I had as well as the 98 B20...
If I may make a suggestion, do not do this swap. Especially if youre going to boost it. That is if youre leaving it stock.
At the very very very least, change out the rod bolts to some ARP's. The weakest link in the rotating assembly are the rod bolts... replace em and you can rev to 8K daily without issue.
Assuming everything else is in great shape.

Thanks a bunch. Yeah I'm definitely going to pick up some ARP bolts and a guy I work with has a friend who owns a shop and said he can get me a very nice deal on getting the block sleeved.
I won't be leaving very much stock. I won't be using anything from the motor that is in there right now, as it has 150k miles on it. Right now passwordJDM has deals on b20 long blocks so Im thinking about picking one up from there since they come with real low miles.
My friend had a b20 non vtec build so hes warned me alot about the dangers of building anything with a b20 block.. mostly the putting a piston through the wall dangers.

Hmm you really like LSVTEC better than b20vtec? I'd like to hear from someone who has actually tried both out, as oppposed to only hearing from people who have either:
A. have no experience with either build
or
B. only tried one
yeah I'll definitely get a progress thread going on it. Just gotta do a couple cosmetic things to the car first. (new driver side fendor, cf hood, better suspension, bla bla)

reliability is only as good as the tuner....a friend of mine had a b20vtec turbo in a EG hatch and ran 11.7 on a stock bottom end @ 10psi w/ a t3/t4 turbo 54 trim....
when the bottom end was built he ran 11.19 on 20psi....
again it all in the tuning....a comparable EG hatch on LS/vtec turbo ran 12.1 on 13psi w/ a t3/t4b 50 trim
are you planning on keeping this as a daily driver or straight weekend car? obviously the 2 vehicles stated above were not intended for everyday use and high accumulations of miles....although the ls/vtec hatch was driven almost daily on 6 psi and was reliable for over 2 years

Ok so i need some advice here is my situation, i have:
b18b1 block bored to 84mm
ITR pistons oversized 84 mm
Polished and turned crank
ITR oil pump
So i dont have any rods and im wondering what to throw in because i plan on doing ls/vtec in the future. Until I have more money and get the vtec head and everything for the conversion the stock ls head is going on. I need some advice thanks.

I never said I prefered either. I was stating my opinion. True, I have only experience with LSVTEC, but what would it matter. A STOCK b20 bottom end is the same no matter what head is on it.

I dont normally do this, but START your OWN ******* thread.
NO, its not safe to bore a STOCK LS out to 84. You will need to get it SLEEVED in order to do this safely.
