Default B20 redline question.

so after over a month of searching, i am confused and still in the dark. most of the search results where crvtec threads. i wont be doing anything like that, it will be stock for a couple of years just have the header intake and exhaust. also a lot of the crv cluster results on the search where different. some people say 6.2k others 6.8k, others say same as ls, i dont get it. one pic had the redline at 6.2k others at 6.8k. can someone give me a definite answer to this. i wont be beating on it but every now and then i like to push my car so i need to know its limits. thanks
julio

I am not sure on this. But if I remember the B20b and B20z might have different redlines.

lol,,, jerk! i like to spend time on searching, dont like to make a thread then get the "hey dumbass you should have searched" post and get an identical thread with the answer. but i have no access to a dyno, i guess ill keep it at 6.2 to be safe. which totally sucks! im used to the b16 or gsr redline. its like driving a chevy silverado haha

well i wouldnt go with the rev it till it stops making power idea. i mean it wont make power very much if any higher than it does right now. but stock b20 blocks were definitly not intended to be high revving. the pistons r too heavy to see high rpm duty.

Thin walls!!!! I have a b20vtec that I take to 8500 all day @ 15psi of boost!!!! It does have thin walls compared to a b18 but if you tune your car and don't get to crazy with it you will be fine!!!!

Figure out your up-shift landing points and find out where your peak tq occurs...use that to decide where you shift.

Other than that, use common sense (Go fast vs. Stress the block)

my friend has a b20b vtec and he only takes it to 6500rpm. he has a stock block though. he just needs to change those internals to some ctr parts.

i have a b20b, i thought it would take the 6.8k like a normal ls, but ill stay safe 6.2k it is, only reason b20vtecs can go to 8k is the head, the block can take it but it will eventually wear out, stock B20b valve-train cant take that abuse.

the motor is still going to be slow as ***** whether he shifts at 6200 or 6800

and for the ppl with friends who shift after redline on stock bottom ends....STFU, its not smart stop spreading your ignorance

B20B redlines at 6200
B20Z redlines at 6800
