Default b18b1 compression

i rebuilt a b18b1 block and head, honed, decked, pressure tested. new supertech valve guides and seals, npr rings, acl race bearings, oem oil pump, gates racing water pump and t-belt.

im slowly buring oil, i think i didnt seat rings rite. idk

my concern is my compression, all 4cyl have and hold 205psi when warm

few of my friends stock OG miles engines ive tested, come out to 170-180

Is it smoking? How much oil are you burning? Those numbers look good

Which angles did you have the rings gaps at? You probably have some of the gaps lined up with the wrist-pin, or have the ring gaps lined up with each other.

it burns about 1qt a week lol... yea i found that out, about the rings being aligned away from the load sides. i aligned them up together.

would burning oil affect the comp results?

I wouldn't keep driving it if its burning a quart a week. Id pull it and just re do the rings before anything gets messed up

Yea the rings being aligned is the problem. Do a compression test, then a wet comp. test, then a leakdown test. Also did you gap the rings before putting them on the pistons?

And you should be able to reuse those rings. And you shouldn't need to rehone it either.

Well whoever tutored you on the first one doesn't know what they are doing if they didn't set the ring gaps, and show you how to align the gaps.

And yes, ring gaps are kind of a big deal...

Make sure you purchase the proper ring gapping tool/grinding wheel.

Check this out so you get an idea of how the ring gaps are supposed to be aligned, this is just an example as it is not for hondas, you will want to purchase a helms manual before you try to gap the rings and align the gaps on the pistons.
